Every business owner should have a procedures manual, easier said than done, right? Not everyone has the time to sit down and write out exactly how they do their job.
So if I told you I could help you make it a little easier would you finally do it? In fact you can do it while you are actually doing the procedure.
Here’s how I like to do it so I don’t miss any steps.
I actually use that pre-installed app on my phone, it’s the one they call voice recorder. I sit down like I would any other day hit the record button and start working. The only difference is while I am working, . If I push any buttons or make any commands, I say it.
This is optional but very helpful, I use the snip tool to take a screen shot of what I am working on to include in my manual later. Just save the picture as 1, 2, 3, etc. and make a vocal note as to what picture you just snipped. The snip tool is available on all windows computer – go to search and type in “snipping”.
Later, when I have the time I can type up my “notes”. If you want to go a step further you can even download an app that will type everything you say, just be careful to make sure it types it correctly.
It may not sound like it saves you a lot of time but, I have found that it does help prevent me from accidentally skipping steps and having to go back and fix errors.
